Applications open for an Early Career Researcher to join the RSPH Arts, Health and Wellbeing Steering Group. The Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Special Interest Group (SIG) in Arts, Health and Wellbeing is a 300-strong body of researchers and practitioners working in the field of arts and health.
The group shares research and best practice, organises conferences, seminars and workshops and works on influencing government policy as a professional body. The group is governed by a steering group that is responsible for the SIG’s strategy and oversees the activities of the group, in particular the high-level relationships between the SIG, the National Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Arts, Health and Wellbeing as well as Public Health bodies and Arts Councils.
A new seat is available for an early career researcher (ECR) to join the steering group. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in major national strategic activities relating to the field of arts and health and to expand connections with researchers, funders and policy makers. The successful applicant will be invited to join the SIG steering group meetings, which happen four times a year in London, and contribute to the discussions. They will also be tasked with undertaking a review in conjunction with the Arts Health Early Career Research Network into the current engagement of ECRs with the SIG and how the SIG could develop its strategy to provide more support to ECRs.
This opportunity is open to ECRs (current students or researchers within 8 years of completing a PhD) currently carrying out research at the intersection of the arts, health and wellbeing. You will need to be available to attend all the scheduled meetings in 2018 (09/01/18, 08/05/18, 11/09/18). There is no fee for involvement in the steering group, but reasonable travel expenses can be reimbursed. To apply, please send a CV and covering letter explaining why you want to be involved in the steering group and what you hope to bring to the role to the Chair of the SIG (Professor Paul Camic: paul.camic@canterbury.ac.uk) and the Deputy Chair (Dr Daisy Fancourt: d.fancourt@ucl.ac.uk) by 17th November 2017. The ECR will be selected by vote of the steering group by early December and will be invited to join the next meeting on 9th January 2018.
