Benefits to authors

Palgrave Communications maintains strong editorial and publishing policies, which include sharing of research data and rigorous peer review. The editorial team strives to provide an efficient service, meaning articles are reviewed speedily and fairly, with accepted papers published with none of the delays traditionally seen with printed publications—it is possible for articles to be submitted, peer reviewed, revised and published within 3 months.

Being born a digital, as well as open access, journal provides numerous opportunities. The editorial team uses continuous online publication to promptly disseminate accepted papers to Palgrave Macmillan’s wide, international readership and beyond. Open access

Scholarly publishing is evolving with the move to online, open access<http://www.palgrave-journals.com/palcomms/about/openaccess> content and Palgrave Macmillan believes that publishing under this model with Palgrave Communications can make high-quality work available to the widest possible audience—all articles are published under a Creative Commons attribution licence (CC BY) by default (with other licences available on request) to support maximum dissemination and use.

The journal’s open access business model recoups the costs associated with the publishing process through an article processing charge (APC) of GBP £750 (UK and Rest of World)/USD $1200 (The Americas). The APC is a flat, one-off charge and authors are not faced with additional charges for longer articles or particular numbers of pages, tables or figures.  We offer an open access support service to make it easier for researchers to discover and apply for open access funding. For further advice on what funding is available to you and guidance in approaching funders and institutions, please contact openaccess@palgrave.com. We also operate a waiver policy for qualifying authors.
