You are invited to join the next seminar in our Spring Series on Wednesday 25th February at 4.00 for 4.30pm:

‘The Shape of Things to Come’: The politics of planning new hospitals in inter war England and France, Professor Barry Doyle (Professor of Health History, University of Huddersfield)

Venue: CEE7, Centre for Executive Education Building 1st floor, GCU, Cowcaddens Road, Glasgow

Abstract: In recent years historians of both Britain and France have paid increasing attention to the development of hospital provision in the first half of the twentieth century. Much of this work has focused on finance, increasing medicalization, the growth of specialisation and the development of integrated institutional services. However, the hospitals themselves have received far less attention and in particular there has been little discussion of the movement to build new hospitals that began to gather pace from the end of the 1920s in both countries.
