Welcome to the blogsite for the Medical Humanities Research Centre (MHRC) at the University of Glasgow. This blog is intended as a forum to advertise and discuss the activities run by the MHRC, and to highlight medical humanities research and events taking place across Glasgow and the central belt. In particular, we will focus on the regular medical humanities discussion group run by the MHRC.
The discussion group is composed of researchers and interested parties from the arts, humanities, social sciences, and medical, veterinary and life sciences – all are welcome! We are particularly engaged with combining professional and patient perspectives in our discussions of ’embodied life’. It is our hope that this blogsite will encourage productive debate amongst the medical humanities community in Glasgow, and provide a useful resource for collating reviews of resources, events, and seminars. The MHRC is directed by Dr Gavin Miller.
We also run a MHRC mailing list, which sends out monthly updates on current research, events, funding, and publication opportunities in the medical humanities, with a particular focus on Glasgow and the surrounding area. If you want to subscribe to the Glasgow Medical Humanities Research Network Scotland mailing list, just visit https://lists.cent.gla.ac.uk/sympa/subscribe/arts-mhrns-list and enter your email address. Once the administrators have approved your request, you’ll be included in all future updates.
This site is run by Dr Hannah Tweed. If you have any questions or suggestions, please email Hannah at arts-medhums@glasgow.ac.uk.
