Promoting a Culture of Belonging in Further and Higher Education, half day workshop, Saturday 26 January, 11:00 – 15:00
Human Development Scotland are holding a session exploring the concept and contemporary relevance of a culture of belonging in further and higher education.
The workshop aims to uncover new understandings on the theme of belonging by:
- Examining current thinking around how ‘a culture of belonging’ contributes to student learning, retention and resilience
- Exchanging experiences of alienation and belonging in educational situations
- Investigating how current polarising political, social, economic and ecological tensions mitigate against free speech and are detrimental to a culture of belonging
- Proposing practical strategies to promote an inclusive culture of belonging for everyone.
Workshop Facilitators: Ruth Jackson and Mary MacCallum Sullivan
