Job Opportunities: Managing Editor and Reviews Editor for the Centre for Medical Humanities Blog

Founded in 2010, the award-winning CMH blog (http://centreformedicalhumanities.org/) is seeking a creative, tech-savvy Managing Editor (0.2FTE) and a book-loving Reviews Editor (0.1FTE) to overhaul and revitalise the site.

Managing Editor (1 day/week (0.2FTE), Starting salary: £5146 pa (£25,728 pro rata))

The Managing Editor will initially be responsible for conducting a strategic review of the site, devising and delivering a plan for its revitalisation. When this is in place they will be responsible for all aspects of the day to day running and ongoing development of the blog including soliciting, editing and publishing content on the site, and enhancing its reach and impact.
The successful candidate will have an academic background in medical humanities, proven engagement with current issues in the field and a vision for redeveloping the blog. They must also be organised, self-motivated and combine technical proficiency with excellent writing, editing and interpersonal skills.

Reviews Editor (2-3 hours/week, £11.86/hour)

The Reviews Editor will be responsible for pro-actively identifying relevant books for review, liaising with publishers and reviewers, copy-editing reviews, uploading them to the CMH blog and monitoring web analytics to ensure that book reviews are a valuable and vibrant part of the blog.
Our Reviews Editor will have a relevant degree, a passion for books and a genuine interest in medical humanities. They must also be self-motivated with excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with publishers and reviewers.
