You are warmly invited to the next WWI lunchtime talk at the University of Glasgow on Friday, 18 March 2016 at 13.15 in the University Chapel.
Dr Jen Novotny, University of Glasgow:
‘To “take their place among the productive members of society”: Treating WWI wounded at Erskine in 1916.”
One hundred years ago in March the Princess Louise Scottish Hospital for Limbless Sailors and Soldiers (now Erskine) launched its first public appeal for donations, accepting its first patients the following autumn. The hospital was designed as a specialist facility to deal with the increasing numbers of amputees returning from the front. This talk offers a look at Erskine’s foundation in 1916 and highlights items from the Erskine archive, recently acquired by the University of Glasgow Archives in 2015.
All welcome. Please share widely with anyone who might be interested.
